software support
is provided via email. Response time is usually less than 1 hour.
Save time by checking our common support issues listed below.
What do I get with the secure online
purchase of your prompter software license?
First download and install the prompter
software. Make sure the
teleprompter software performs to
your expectations before purchasing. This
is a "try before you buy" teleprompter software product and all sales
are final. An email binary attachment is sent to you which is a
copy of
your
prompter software license. You then copy the attachment to your
installation folder. Should
you have problems installing our prompter software or your license
please contact
support via email for a quick reply (usually within the hour).
- Unlimited same day email teleprompter software
support Monday - Friday.
- All product update revisions to the current
major version.
- Web available support files and information 24/7.
How do I activate the prompter software license
I
purchased?
To make the license activate, you must
copy the physical license file "lectprom.bin" to the "C:\Program
Files\PrompterSoftwareCom\Ultra-Prompter" folder. There are no
codes or
numbers to enter. The presence of the license file in the
installation
folder is all that is necessary.
The file must be physically located in the installation folder
"C:\Program Files\PrompterSoftwareCom\Ultra-Prompter". If you can
not
find this folder, reinstall the teleprompter software. If you are
having problems
with copying the file please contact your IT support to copy the file
for you. Also, the shortcut must be used to start the program.
How do set Windows 7 permissions to copy
the prompter software license I
purchased?
The program works well in W7. You must however have the permissions set
to full read and write on the ULP folder and the user privileges to
copy
and change it's files. The W7 default was set to read only when
you installed the software. To change, right click on the ULP
folder, select properties, then change the Read Only to
unchecked. If the permissions are very strong, sometimes you may
have to change the ULP folder individual file properties.
You may need to also change the user privileges on the Security tab of
the properties page. Use the edit button there.
Once you change the User [Modify] rights, all should be OK. Make sure
you 'apply' the changes. This only needs to be done one time.
Why are the Dual Monitor menu
options disabled in Ultra-Prompter?
On Start-up, Ultra-Prompter II checks to see if you have 2 separate
Windows monitors and that the second monitor has been Extended onto the
windows desktop**.
If you have a second SAGA port on your computer,
use the Windows [Control Panel][Display][Settings]
options to extend the Desktop onto the second monitor** (the option
must be checked). You should see two monitor icons on the
[Display][Settings] panel. Apply the new [Control Panel][Display]
setting and then restart Ultra-Prompter II.
Reasons for Running in the DEMO
mode?
After re-installing the software on a different or re-formatted computer. Possible reason
may be the program cannot find it's license file (if you have already purchased a license). Copy the "lectprom.bin" license file to the new ULP or Ultra-Prompter folder (C:\Program
Files\PrompterSoftwareCom\Ultra-Prompter\), and re-start the program. The license file was sent to as an email attachment, or you can copy it from your previously installed folder.
Right Version? Make sure the installed major version of software matches the
license you have purchased. Each major software version has a different
and specific license for that major version. For example, the version 1 license
will
not work with version 2 software.
In Vista
you must have the correct permissions set. Drill down to
the application folder and run the
application from there to test.
Make sure you have full read and write permissions to the application
folder and it's contents, including the license file. Check the binary
software license file properties page, make sure the binary software
license file
attributes
are
set
to
read
and
write.
If
adding
a
Short-Cut
to
your
desktop.
If
you add a
short-cut to your desktop, you must make sure that the
Startup In: folder entry under the short-cut's Target: properties, is
set to your installation folder. Failure to do this will force your
program to run in the DEMO mode.
Example
Short-Cut
Properties:
Target:
"C:\Program
Files\PrompterSoftwareCom\Ultra-Prompter\uprompter.exe"
Startup
In:"C:\Program
Files\PrompterSoftwareCom\Ultra-Prompter\"
You
can also use
the installation's Short-cut under [Start][Programs].
This short-cut was setup when you installed the program.
If
you
are
on
a
Network.
All
users must
have read and write access to the software license file
and the configuration files. If on a network, the user must have read
and write privileges to the installation folder. Failure to do this
will force your program to run in the DEMO mode. See your network
administrator about your file permissions.
If
recording
your
software
license
to
CD.
Making
a
CD
backup
of
your
binary
software
license
file
and the
downloaded program file is highly suggested (in case you need to
reinstall the software). When installing the software license file from
your backup CD make sure you change the binary software license file
attributes to read and write after installing it from your backup CD.
Use the binary software license file properties page to change the file
attributes to read and write.
Will my generic hand controller work with
your prompter software?
Yes. If it is a
generic keyboard controller (Griffin Powermate or similar) more than
likely you will have to program
it
to emulate the keyboard keys such as up/down arrows,
space bar, Esc, etc. The majority of keyboard
emulators will work after being setup at least once for the
application to control. See your emulator documentation.
What is the time limit when
running in the demo mode?
There is no time limit. All download teleprompter
software
is the full
complete version. There are no program or function restrictions in the
demo mode. There will be the bane of the software displayed
randomly when scrolling text in the demo mode.
Why is the prompter scrolling text too slow?
Change your windows display settings to 8 or 16 bit color. To do
this, use the [Control Panel][Display][Settings] option to change to a
lower resolution. You might change the display size to 800x600 or
640x480 to increase the speed.
The color is black on white or
white on black?
There
are 2 color sets in Ultra-LightPrompter and Ultra-Prompter. They are
black on white or white on black. TIP: This color set has worked for 25
years for most professionals TV newscasters?
How do I change the speed of the
scrolling text?
Using the PgUp or Up arrow will increase the speed of the Teleprompter
software. Using the PgDn or Down arrow will slow the speed down
of the
prompter.
Why, when I open a file, does it
contain non-readable text?
Ultra-LightPrompter uses Text files only. When using your word
processor
make sure you save the text as a "Text" file, then open the file in the
editor of of our prompter software. Close the file in your word
processor first.
What is the max amount of text I
can scroll?
This program uses the standard Windows text
buffers(32k).
This will equal about 35-40 minutes read time.
Why are the Dual Monitor menu
options disabled in Ultra-Prompter?
Ultra-Prompter checks to see if you have 2 separate
Windows monitors and that the second monitor has been extended onto the
windows desktop. If you have two SVGA ports on your computer,
use the Windows [Control Panel][Display][Settings]
options to correct the setting. You should see two monitor icons on the
[Display][Settings] panel.
Why is the
teleprompter scrolling text too
slow?
Change your windows display settings to 8 or 16 bit color. To do
this, use the [Control Panel][Display][Settings] option to change to a
lower resolution. You might change the display size to 800x600 to
increase the speed. |
